How to Configure Comments for Your WordPress Website – 3-Easy Steps

Configure Comments in WordPress

How to Configure Comments for your WordPress Site

The available settings for your comments are listed under Settings -> Discussion tab in your WordPress admin panel.

Discussion Settings - WordPress Comments

On this page, there are several important settings that you should change depending on your needs:

  1. Allow people to post comments on new articles – this setting handles whether the comments under your new posts are enabled or disabled by default. Note that enabling or disabling comments under a particular post or page will overwrite this setting.
  2. An administrator must always approve the comment – if you want to moderate each comment that enters your site before it goes live, enable this option. If you do so, you’ll have to activate new comments form the Comments page.
  3. Show Avatars – by default, WordPress will link the commenters email address to his/hers avatar in Gr-avatar if such is present. With this option, you can either hide or show avatars next to your comments.
